Q: Who can play at California Beach Hockey Club?
A: Our NHL Street league is open to kids aged 6 to 16 years old. No previous hockey experience is required! We welcome all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players.
Q: What are the rules of the game?
A: In association with NHL Street, we follow a gameplay model designed for fast-paced and engaging play. Typically, we use a 3-on-3 format plus goalies. Games consist of two 20-minute halves, with a 15-minute warm-up session prior to puck drop. You can find more details within the rulebook on our page.
Q: What is the expected time commitment for participants?
A: Participants should expect about 1-1.5 hours per week. Our leagues run on typically 10-week cycles, with games/sessions scheduled for Saturday afternoons at 2:00 PM.
Q: What equipment is needed?
A: All participants receive a uniform. NHL Street provides balls and goalie equipment. Optional gear includes helmets, gloves, shin-pads, mouthguards, and sweatbands. Skates and ice hockey gear are not permitted. Players may bring their own suitable sticks.
Q: Do you offer any volume discounting for multiple participants per family?
A: Yes, we do. We encourage the participation of siblings. Therefore, we would like to extend an offer of a $10 discount for each additional sibling/family member. You will find this option during the registration process.
What Should I Expect?
A: Communication: Regular updates via email and text. Please add us to your safe-senders list to ensure you don't miss any important information.

- Meet & Greet/Introductory Session: August 3rd, 2024
- Team/Division Formation and Schedule Announcement: August 5th, 2024
- Regular Season Begins: August 3rd, 2024
- Regular Season Ends: September 28th, 2024
- Scheduled Playoffs: October 5th, 2024 (Semi-Finals) and October 12th, 2024 (Final and 3rd Place)
- Make-up Date(s): TBD, if necessary.
Equipment
- All players receive a reversible NHL Street branded jersey which will be distributed by our staff.
- Hockey sticks available for game use; personal sticks allowed.
- Optional Equipment: Helmets, gloves, shin-pads, mouthguards, sweatbands.
- Not Permitted: Skates, elbow/shoulder pads, ice hockey pants, goalie equipment.
